Venus Williams and Alexandra Dulgheru
Romanian tennis player Alexandra Dulgheru, 29, has revealed that Venus Williams (above) helped her with clothes during her tough times. Dulgheru said that in the last few years, following a series of surgeries since 2015, which resulted in her drop in rankings, she had no sponsors. So, she approached seven-time Grand Slam-winner Venus, who owns the Eleven clothing line.
“After the first surgery, I had no sponsor and nobody was interested in working with me because my ranking was so low. So I talked to Venus, because I had seen other players dressed in Eleven and asked if she could send me clothes,” Dulgheru was quoted saying by Tennis World.
“She sent me a bag from Rome and then kept doing it for the rest of the year. Her clothes are pretty and I always showed her pictures from my matches. After a year, when I got a contract with Sergio Tacchini, I told her and she was fine with it. I respect her a lot,” added Dulgheru.
