Rahul, after KXIP put into bat by Delhi Daredevils, achieved the feat in just 14 balls bettering the previous record made by Yusuf Pathan in 2014 and Sunil Narine last year in 15 deliveries.

Rahul launched his brutal assault from the onset as he whacked Trent Boult for a huge six and took 16 runs off the New Zealand paceman’s first over. Rahul, who was bought for whopping Rs 11 crore by the Punjab team, then scored 11 runs from Mohammed Shami‘s next over before taking on leggie Amit Mishra in a stunning display of clean and big hitting.

Rahul went on to hit 4, 6, 6, 4, 4 to bring up his blistering half-century. Rahul clobbered six fours and four sixes during his stay at the crease before being dismissed for 51 by Chris Morris.

Kings XI were 52 for no loss after three overs with Rahul’s partner Mayank Agarwal scoring just one off three balls. Kings XI Punjab started their IPL 11 campaign on a resounding note defeating Delhi Daredevils by six wickets.

“For years, I have been branded a Test cricketer. It’s good for me to be up there, creating history and breaking records. Hope to continue this way,” Rahul said after being adjudged ‘Player of the Match’.
